Plumbers in Little River, SC
Little River is the top of the Strand, close enough to the state line that some companies here work both sides of it. The mix runs from older cottages near the waterfront to newer subdivisions inland off Highway 9.
The town is served by the Bull Creek regional water system, the same plant that supplies Conway and parts of Georgetown County, drawing surface water from an arm of the Great Pee Dee River.
That plant is being expanded from 45 million gallons a day to 60 to keep up with growth across the Strand, a project estimated at roughly $38.6 million.
Newer subdivisions inland tend to be slab built with PEX supply lines, which ages differently from the copper in the older cottages. Neither is a problem. They are just different repairs, and worth mentioning when you call.
Two states, one town, and what to ask about a license
Little River is close enough to the state line that plenty of trades here work both sides of it, and that is worth one question when you are comparing estimates. A contractor licensed in North Carolina is not automatically licensed to do the same work in South Carolina. The licenses are issued separately by each state.
So ask. Every company we send your request to is licensed and insured for the work it takes on, and any legitimate outfit will give you a license number and a certificate of insurance without hesitating. If somebody gets vague about which state their license is in, that is your answer.
On the plumbing itself, the housing here splits cleanly in two. The older cottages nearer the waterfront are mostly copper, which fails as pinhole leaks rather than as bursts, and often at a joint or at a spot where the pipe has been rubbing on a joist for thirty years. The newer subdivisions inland off Highway 9 are mostly slab built with PEX, which is far more tolerant of a freeze but much harder to get at once it is under concrete. Neither is worse. They are just different jobs, and knowing which you have shortens the diagnosis.
